Answer Engine Optimization (AEO)
Answer engine optimization is the work of making a page's answer easy to find, extract and reproduce correctly.
The unit of AEO is the answer, not the page
Answer engines are asked a question and must return one response. They look for a passage that answers it cleanly, with enough context to be safe to quote. Pages that build slowly toward a conclusion lose to pages that state it and then justify it.
An AEO-ready page
- A question-shaped heading followed immediately by the answer.
- Supporting detail after the answer, not before it.
- FAQ blocks for real, distinct questions — marked up as FAQPage.
- Explicit definitions and named entities.
